Team Oma: Walking for hope, healing and a leukemia-free future

On July 8, 2018, we lost our beloved mother, Maria, to acute myeloid leukemia. Her passing was sudden and devastating, leaving us with little time to process her illness or prepare for her death. The experience left us with a desire to make a difference in the lives of others affected by this disease.

Since her passing, our family has been committed to supporting the Leukemia Research Foundation and the ABC 7 Gibbons Walk/Run annually since 2019. Even amid the challenges posed by COVID-19, we remain steadfast in our commitment to raising funds for treatments and, ultimately, a cure, so that others may have a more promising outlook.

This year, we are thrilled to introduce Team Oma, uniting our entire family in memory of our mother and grandmother. Together with our siblings, children, and grandchild, we will walk in honor of all those who have faced a leukemia diagnosis, and in memory of those who have lost their battle.

As Team Oma, we walk with pride, knowing that our efforts are making a difference in the lives of those affected by leukemia. On behalf of Maria’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, we are committed to supporting the Leukemia Research Foundation and the vital work that they do. Join us today as we walk for hope, for healing, and for a future free from leukemia.
