About the event

Lace Up for Leukemia and join more than a thousand people at Chicago’s lakefront to run, walk, and raise funds in search of a cure. The ABC 7 Gibbons Run consists of a chip-timed 5K run, 3K walk, and a kids dash, followed by a party with food, refreshments, music, and partner tents.

There will be games and activities for the whole family.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Leukemia Research Foundation, the nation’s largest nonprofit focused exclusively on funding leukemia research and supporting leukemia patients and their loved ones.

Registration pricing for the 5K and 3K is detailed in the chart below.

Special note: Patients and survivors can register for free, as can immediate family members of pediatric patients/survivors.

** Children ages 4–11 can participate for free with an adult registration until February 17, 2025. After that date, their registration fee will be $20.

The Tiny Trot is always free.

Virtual participants

Your Virtual Race Kit (bib, t-shirt and medal) will be mailed to you. You must register by May 1, 2025, to receive your packet before the race. All registrations after May 1, 2025 will be mailed after race day.

After your run or walk, upload your time to receive a personalized ABC7 Gibbons Run certificate.

All virtual participants who fundraise will have their incentive prizes mailed after the run.

Patients and survivors

Leukemia patients and survivors may participate free of charge. To do so, send an email to arleen@leukemiarf.org to receive a coupon code that can be applied during the online registration process.

Transportation

Parking

There are two paid lots near the site, as well as limited street parking along Simonds Drive and Montrose Drive.
