Phillip (Poppie) Gaston Chapter

Phil was diagnosed in March 2011 with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He underwent a bone marrow transplant, but his body had difficulty recovering from it. Phil ultimately passed away in March 2012, one year after his diagnosis.

Phil was a design engineer for ComEd for 37 years before he retired in 2005. He also had a degree in massage therapy for 22 years. He loved giving massages to sick children and HIV patients. He most of all enjoyed his three boys Charles, Brian, and Jeffrey, and his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He worked in the church as a choir director and mentor. He also taught Sunday school. He loved having his friends around just for a laugh or two. It is with great pleasure that the family of our hero continues his legacy.
