Goland-Orenstein-Sherman Memorial Chapter

In 1968, the family and friends of Vera and Irv Goland formed the Jeffery Scott Goland Memorial Chapter to remember their son who died of leukemia at the age of three. At the time, the chapter's 41 members had little experience with fundraising. From a modest start, the chapter grew in both membership and fundraising ability. In 1974, the Ben Orenstein Memorial Chapter merged with the Goland Chapter and was renamed the Goland-Orenstein Memorial Chapter. In 1977 Ann and Sheldon Sherman, who were the driving force in the formation of the original Goland Chapter, lost their own daughter, Lori, to leukemia. Since that time the Chapter has been known as the Goland-Orenstein-Sherman Memorial Chapter.

One of the more established chapters in the Foundation, many of the fundraising activities are run by the sons and daughters of the original members. This chapter has raised more than $3.6M since 1968.
