Robert L. Dilley, MD, PhD, knows the value of research first-hand, and credits his leukemia survival to a clinical trial that saved his life… a trial that would not have even existed if not for robust investment into research. Dr. Dilley, a clinical fellow in hematology/oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Mass General Brigham in Boston, shares his journey in an article originally featured in Medpage Today.

Learn the most and least common biomarkers for leukemia and MDS, and what these biomarkers tell us, when Lucy Godley, MD, PhD, joins us for "Leukemia Genetics and Biomarkers" on May 5. In this webinar, Dr. Godley, with the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center, Northwestern Medical Group, will help us understand the role of leukemia genetics and biomarkers in navigating your cancer journey and improving outcomes.

After surviving her own battle with ALL when she was 14, Amy pursued a medical career that allows her to help other children in their fight against cancer. Today, she is a pediatric oncology nurse in the same hospital where her diagnosis was made. “I tell all of my patients they’re going to be so proud of themselves when they come out of this.”

Leukemia Research Foundation has been such a valuable resource for information and support. The mission of this organization is near and dear to my heart; finding a cure. The research that they support may one day bring an end to leukemia. So many strides have been made by this organization’s research and it gives us all the hope and strength to keep trying to do more. I hope I live to see the cure, because I know it is coming.

Since diagnosis, my husband has been through multiple treatments with various post-treatment complications. This financial assistance will allow us to pay a large portion of our medical bills and use our limited income for daily needs, like food and rent. What a relief it is to have assistance.
